Tax Questions

So this is where we can all ask any questions about taxes and hopefully get them answered. Here mine are:

1) what is the deal with the tax break this year, ive heard a couple differnt things, but the most recent i heard was as a single filling independently you get $300 back. What are the details?

2) Where is the best place to get your taxes done i have 3 W-2's and a 1099-R and i just dont feel like doing it myself this year because last year somehow i fucked up alot. sooooo where would you recomend?

1. from my understanding
if you file as dependant ~300
if you file as independant ~600
if you file joint (spouse) ~1200 or ~1500 (ive heard both)
any dependants you claim yourself you get your ~600-~1200 (joint) + 300 for each additional dependant

so my understanding if you file joint with a spouse and have 3 kids you will get ~1200 + ~300 x 3 = ~2100

2. i file jens and mine jointly myself online.

1. Has been answered.
2. The solid place is to take your returns to a CPA if you are not comfortable doing them online yourself. Costly, but you won't get screwed.

I cannot stress this enough. Most people couldnt give 2 shits about you there, and the last tax place we used, someone local, they missed like 1200 bucks for my parents

We went to a CPA last year and I couldnt be happier. With your work connections, Meg, find out who friends and relatives recommend. Our CPA didnt cost too much last year, something like 75 bucks for mine I think?

We have an appointment next week, will see how much I get back. Probably file as a dependent for the last time this year.

BUT, the CPA always figures it up both ways for me and the folks, and which ever makes more sense for the fam gets the nod, because lets face it, they pay bills, I fuck around all year and manage to go to work and class somewhere in between
