Color Choices

Hey need some help on color choices. I know that the color is probably going to depend on the total look of the tile on the floors, but want to get some ideas. Women, you guys have ways to put stuff together that is cool, guys don't let the ladies try to pull "periwinkle pink" over on me

Basically the mood I want is really earthy/rustic/relaxing... relaxing over any other element really, but want it to feel really mellow and comforting when you come in. Like a spa, or something like that.. you get into it and it just soothes you.

NO tags on THIS THREAD please Just what I want. I was originally thinking some type of blue for the living room and entryway/wall downstairs.. but I in no way want this place to be feminine.. AND not TOO dark, not TOO light.

I like deep rich colors. I don't really want any beiges.. think those for the most part are gay and WAY too common. Again I like original stuff, so exotic would also work if it were to fall under the parameters I specified above.

Any design majors on this site? This is what the new "2008 Trend" colors are for sure

Here is a good couple colors, I guess I am not too off on what I want VS. the new trends

The exterior is going to be (Benjamin Moore pallet):

(Body Color) Jamesboro Gold HC-88
(Trim Color) Wheeling neutral HC-92
(Accent DOOR) Navajo Red 2171-10 OR Neon Red 2087-10. I am still deciding on this, it has to be able to mesh yet an exotic enough red to flow with the other colors.

The railing is going to be removed and coated with Industrial Aluminum paint, unless I can get a nickel colored paint. I think it will be bad ass and set off the satin nickel lights, address numbers, and door knobs/hardware.

That is the exterior, but the interior is what is what I am after. Railings on the interior will get the same nickel paint as the exterior railings.

Well anyway, let me know what you think color wise, any colors you see that could possibly look good.

As always, thanks for looking

a green would look nice inside, yellow, red, blue... all of those would bring some nice modern color to it

You'll never lose in resale or in satisfaction when you choose calm Earthtones.

Get a dingy white, a mauve, or light tan to do the walls. Accent and trim everything in a snow or powder white--it draws out the linearity of every room and makes it seem bigger than it really is.

Put your bolder colors in things you can change--ie, fabrics. Make the curtains, rungs, couches, etc the colors you want to express with. Additionally, if you hate those colors you pick first, you can change a couch easier than you can paint a whole room.

I like that green in that 08 link. Red is my fav. color, so I will work that in somewhere. Orange could be good too. I need to find the main color though. I need to get that picked out, oh that and the kitchen color.

Yeah tim, I want to pic a color I can use on my cabinets and trim. Make em all one color... I was thinking of some type dingy white.. not quite antique, that is too beige, but some off white, but still really nice white... either that or bright ass white.

Also, for the kitchen do they say to make it brighter or not as bright?

Our kitchen follows the scheme of the rest of the house in white trim and cabinetry. However, we chose to stick with the classic lemon countertops and do a soft, yet dark green hue for the walls. This same hue casts over into the dining room.

If you'd like, I could snap some pictures and post them up to give you an idea.

The modern kitchen is typically medium to almost dark, both in hue and cabinetry. White can be done, but yet again, contemporary styling requires some dark contrast mixed in, be it baseboards, coving, or plinth blocking on corners.

i live in an appt, so we cant really paint our int. we can but we have to paint it back to the original color... which is a tan so bland

I like dark shades of red, some brighter shades are ok but you want to make sure it doesn't look like a tomato blew up on your walls. The color of my old bedroom was a darker shade of red from Bear, it looked great since my bed was maroon and gold with a black frame and i had some black furniture in there.... yellow and orange are basically the same way, too bright and it may not look good with your furniture color and style, brighter colors look better with more modern style furniture IMO.
light blue is nice in certain rooms aswell.

You da man Oxy! Thanks for those links. I have painted a ton of different interiors, but seriously draw a blank on my own. It is easier painting when the choices are already made. I have housewives ALWAYS ask me what I think, I tell them to choose on their own, but that the colors the picked out are usually good and compliment their choices. I will give those links a look. Did alot of work tonight on the entry way. I am going to hang the sheetrock now. I have some pics of the progress up to now in the interior thread. Thanks again guys, keep em coming.

Oh I like that room on the behr page, the maroon purple room looks nice. I like those deep vivid colors like that

So son and I came up with a "theme" < use that litely We want a rainforest feel to the place. Going to go with a laminate wood flooring (Indian Tigerwood, or KOA ) and whatever colors make you feel in nature. With the flooring, the slate for the landing, kitchen, bathrooms, and the area from the garage in between the 3rd bed and downstairs den.. it will feel REAL nature like

BUT I need help with colors!!! PLEASE!!
