Is this brew made by the same Shiner company that makes Shiner Bock? If so, most people likely won't see this "99", given that the distribution is mostly limited to Tejas.

Shiner is a decent regional brewer, but not one of extreme note.

ya i know, i think corona just bought them out so it will probably be more widespread pretty soon

generally if it has a number on it, it is an anniversary one. I think they are on 99 now.

When i was at the store i found a six pack and am enjoying one of those tasty guys as we speak

i think so, thats why they didnt have bocktoberfest last year. i am hearing they are trying to get another brewery in chicago

I can tell you with 100% certainty (the brewery is a client of mine) that Shiner has not been bought by anyone. It's the oldest independent brewery in Texas, one of the oldest in the country and plans to remain that way.
