Work to the back has started

I finally said Eff it and called in dead all weekend. Got to sleep in today and did some things that I needed to get done.

One of the critical things I needed to do was to start working on the back of the townhome. Mainly what I got done with today is getting the crap moved from away from the townhome.. clear the area so I can work on it.

I didn't do anything to the actual townhome yet.. just got all the shit cleared out and the small crabapple tree cut back away from the house and chimney.

That gawddamn mower of mine is about ready to be shot.. I TOTALLY know why that dude did it to his now sunnavabitch will run then quit on me after being on an extremely short amount of time, not to mention leaking fuel like a motha!! I was able to cut some of the grass.. not all of it I will get pics up tomorrow hopefully, you can't make fun of my "patches" of grass not mowed

I have a feeling I am not going to touch the neighbors side other than to run the horizontal trim and dripedge across the middle and then again to the bottom. Fuck it I don't give a shit.. would be less work anyway Why is that my response? Oh cause I asked him if he was planning on springing the cash for it and he acted like I pissed in his coffee.. fuck YOU dude, I did ALL the work to the front with NO help from him.. won't do it again. Oh he gave me a couple hundred bucks for the material.. big fucking deal.

/rant...

Can't wait till it is done I have ALOT to go with this side. As I am tearing the back up, I am going to have to replace studs in the wall. There was so much water leaking in from the awesome weekend warrior who owned it before.. that it rotted some of the studs.. I will have to redo an area where 1 window sits... possibly both lower windows in the back but at least they will be done.. and new.. I will have to buy new windows when I do it so that when I go to replace all the windows, I won't have to jack with them again On second thought I will see if I can do all the back windows.. all small.. and I don't want to have to dig back into the siding/trim again if I don't have to.

Pictures when I can.

I am patching a vent on the roof that leaks and hopefully will get the rest of the mortar put on the chimney going up the house (the gap caused by foundation shifting).

I am trying to get the rest of the crap that has to be done first done (mortar work, and rebuild of some of the studs/seal plate) , so I can hit it hard and get the siding/trim/priming done. Gunna call Pella right now to see if they can come and give me an estimate on ordering the windows.. hopefully I can get a couple if not all the ones for the back right now.

No batteries so I don't think I will take pics of the vent repair

Well I couldn't NOT take pids

Here was muh problem.. oh and what a problem it has been

and the lil one in another area too

Both Boots were wore out I found out I had a leak after I sealed the floor.. all the sudden there was the dog pee on the new white and it was wet! I found that out earlier this year.. better late than never I guess, my neighbor said he had some stuff that would work great for it, but never came around to getting me any.. Eff him.. the old saying you want something done, you have to do it yourself

Took fiberglass mesh tape around the exhaust tube:

Built it up and then put a THICK layer of the rubberized neoprene elastimeric cement over the base and around it:

That stuff is GOOD btw recommend it to anyone..

Lowes for around 6.50/tube. I knew I needed to cut around the base of the nozzle, so I found a nozzle that was broken.. got it for half price

The angled (term??) deal by the chimney had OLD dried up caulking on the base and I decided to do a number on that too.

Then I went hunting for things to put this stuff on.. I found nails, 1 nail hole and some old caulking that needed recovering

All in good time too, the storm are iz brewin!!

It rained bout an hour after I got it done Good thing about this stuff is that it doesn't matter if it gets a lil wet right after the fact

Oh and a side note, if you have to do it, tape some 2" blue tape and tape a line around the exhaust pipe. That way you can take the tape off afterward and have a nice professional look to your work.. I thought about this after I did the repair I will know next time

The first step to me getting the back of the townhome was finished today.. WHEW. this mortar chit is for the birds. I actually have to run a fine smooth layer over the top of this filler. I did this to fill in the area between the chimney and the house (foundation settled and chimney moved out). This way I will be able to put trim right next to the chimney and caulk the trim to chimney with no problem.

I got this done week and a half ago.

Dark area halfway up and to the top is what I did today.

Had to remove trim and caulking and then started this side.

To get to the top of the other side of the chimney I had to take some of the deck railing off.. the whole thing is going to come down VERY soon anyway, probably this next weekend.

Here I got about half way up again, stopped and grilled some burgers.. took off the batten as far as I could going across the deck and down the stairs. I might as well get done with as much as I can while the deck is on.. free scaffolding this way

Too dark after I was done to get a good pic, but here it is done.

All the way to the top

Earlier I took these pics to have to compare to after I get done. I had to cut the board under the soffet (above my windown on second floor) and remove that to get to the chimney gap. I took all the batten off this side, and the stormdoor down a week and a half ago.

I started kinda sorta scrapping it.. I am just going to hit it with the D.A. sander though.. cft!!

Yep.. neighbor better get to crackin on his shit.. I need that door off NOW!! I put a note on his front door last week, monday last week I think.. gunna have to do it again.. I don't want to be doing everything this time.

Notice the nice little hole on the bottom? Yeah great shit.. everyone just cuts boards and nails em up to cover it WTF! Half ass shit

I am going to have to cut all the nails to this lower board and put a new piece in. I am wondering if it will be simple or a major pain in the ass? probably the latter..

Under the deck.. this window's framing is all jacked up. I need to pull all the drywall off from the inside and figure out what all needs replaced.

I have to remember to call Pella so they can come out and see how much some Low-E argon vinyl windows will be. I can't wait to have the exterior done

TO BE CONTINUED....

It is going to rain here tomorrow, I finish up at WORK, so Thursday it is on... as far as exterior work goes. I will more than likely waste most of the day just getting supplies and such Fuck I hate that. BUT plan on staying around the house all weekend long.. hope to have the bulk of the exterior done.. aside from the batten put back up. That will be done sometime this next week. Then it is on to sanding/filling holes and priming the exterior. I will see when I get a chance to actually rebuild a small deck/landing for Temporary.

PICS TO COME BRCHS!!!!!!

I am really pissed and sad. I found out that the company of trim I have been using has been discontinued by lowes I cannot fucking believe it. I found out today and muh jawl just dropped. THERE IS NO FUCKING WAY IN HELL I am going to use a different kind of trim on the last 1/3 of this place.. I would rather dip muh balls in lava... well maybe not but close

I was told that they can "order it in".. so I now have to wait.. I cannot fucking believe it. I just can't get ahead. I have been waiting so damn long.. SINCE LAST YEAR AT THIS TIME to finish this damn thing EFF. I have a list I put together and tomorrow I am going to go back and order it. I have no clue when It will get here, or how much it is going to cost, but I have no real option I have my interior going right now which gives me something to do at night... and until I am able to get it I will just have to get the exterior ready to cut and nail. It will all work out, but man I tell you it is like I have to FIGHT to get anything done

Okay so I ordered my trim today price is WAY higher now that they don't/won't carry it. Came in at $414.00! Yarly.

Good thing is it will be here in 3ish days I am pissed though

I just hope I can get something done by the time it snows.. fuck it is going to be cold working out there.

I still need to get a couple things, a couple sheets of siding and a door for downstairs. That and a ton of flashing.
