E-Barrier coating on my attic (DONE w/ pics)
Well I set everything up and it is gunna fucking suck to do this job. Have already had to contort to fit into spaces I am too big for, and I am just settin up
so add sweat, paint, rollers insulation getting into everything and having to walk on the ceiling joists... you kinda get what I am in for. Gunna go have it spun for a while to shake it up since it has been sitting for a year. ![]() Here are some before pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Once I got up there to work, I refigured what I needed to do, so tomorrow morning I will start.. have class in a lil over an hour so I am gunna get it all ready for tomorrow.

I HAZ CHROME ATTIC PRCHS!!!!!!!!!!!
I am 94.67286956856% done I have only the ass-raping corners to do.. I wanted those to be for a day I didn't have anything else to do yeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh.PICS!!: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This was the first method I used to move the insulation... yeah didn't help much.. but I had thought yesterday bout the problem of the insulation and brought up the plastic rake so I was set after that! I ended up moving ALL the insulation around.. the insulation that was above the ceiling joists that is but that is what this type of yob calls for. I iz VERY itchy even after a shower.![]() ![]() ![]() Blury pic it was hard to even get light at what you were working on most of the time. I applied the E-Barrier to the drywall that makes up the firewall upstairs.. CFT I am not giving the next door neighbors ANY heat this winter ... err not that much at least ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yeah bout those nails.. I don't know how many times I ended up hitting my head on those fuggers and bouncing my head off the supports while trying to reposition ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I was originally going to quite and leave this area, but then I got to thinking about changing out the pump for regular paint and all the mess I would have to deal with.. decided to complete it.. one main factor to the madness was the HUGE pile of insulation right there.. and there is a wall or divider of some sort right there.. some raised top plate and it was going to suck to get in there to the edge. I did it cause I am so super badass like that ... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() All in all I feel really good about this product. I see how it will keep the heat from leaving/entering now. I am pretty damn stoked I was trying to find all I could last night on it and there wasn't CRAP for pics.. and besides all the articles anouncing the "NEW" product.. I didn't see much else. This is around 3 to 4 yrs old.. it is really new as far as new building technologies are concerned. It is like BlueBoard.. you will start seeing it more and more. I think my home may be in the first 3000 or so homes to have this. I was given 10gallons to try out on someone's home. For a test deal so a local Sherwin Williams could evaluate the product and find out what kind of savings can be had. I couldn't find ANYONE that wanted it done to their place for FREE . Had it been this year/winter I think I would have had more takers on the offer. I decided after not being able to GIVE IT AWAY to just do it to my own place. ![]() Tyvek has a "roof wrap" that seals and also has a metalic underside that acts like this stuff does. If I were to build a home, I would do the tyvek RoofWrap. And for an existing home I would do this. I cannot wait to see the difference this makes. This took me bout 2hrs 30min on the outside for me to complete this. Had I got a start earlier on in the day like I wanted, I would have been able to get those corners.. they are REALLY tight... and will take probably another hour to do. I iz glad to be done.. err 94.67286956856% done that is ![]() When I took my mask off.. (which was so tight it was making my cheeks red.. DIDN'T want to breath aluminum in in a confined space like that ..) I looked like I had paint on like the ultimate warrior or sting ![]() Well that is that. Guys have any questions let me know. I will answer em for you's. If you have a chance, go pick up some of this, rent a pump, get the rake and get busy ![]() Oh yeah.. this was a 5gallon bucket.. I have about 3/4 gallon left. I applied it pretty thick.. but that is how I roll

I have decided that I am going to also coat the rafters once I go back up. I have been reading up on RB and think they could be a way heat could be transferred also, unless I coat them too.
oh well, got another 5gal + so I am not trippin bout that.

says you have to coat/paint with this no lower than 50deg F (the window is 50 - 100 deg F ). Today is supposed to peak at about that so I had to stay home today to finish this up, and to get all the insulation spread evenly across the whole attic. Pics of finished product to come. I have all the really bad areas to get right now.. all tight clearances and stuff
![]() will be over soon. The last time I got bad fiberglass burn :ouch:

Hokay I iz done. I am so damn scratchy though
Oh well. Okay total time to do this was around 6 hrs total time. (getting into the corners and such was TUFF, that and switching out the 3' tip extension was a bitch also )I got the ends of the rafters/roof line (down where it gets tiny tiny.. ) got that area real thick cause it is near impossible not to.. even with a 3' tip extension on the end of my paint gun. Took ~ 8.5 gallons of E-Barrier. @ $50.00/gallon it was about $425.00 for the application, but just figure $500.00 cause it only comes in 5gallon buckets @ $250.00/per. Here are finished pics. I saw a couple raw spots after the fact and went back up and got them. After getting all the insulation spread back out, I need to get up there and blow some more in.. kinda thin in spots.Hope you enjoyed. I do notice a bit of difference having it coated vs. when it wasn't. When I get my thermal imaging camera I will do a comparison (my roof, vs. neighbors roof) Will post pics when that happens... when it happens. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

This is what I have noticed so far. I love this coating. Serious. My place is really getting better as far as temperature inside.. it is more constant. I notice my heater doesn't kick on that much.. "yeah right huh?" WELL... I notice that during the day, my place does not warm up like it used to.. like in 60deg weather outside.. my place doesn't heat up with the temp outside. It stays cold. The flip side of that.. at night it stays warm inside way beyond the point it used to without having to heat it.
It will only get better the more I do to my house, but I DEFINITELY feel the difference. I am going to be going to my older sister's house in WACO, TX this next spring/summer to spray her attic and do some stuff to her house to make it more efficient. I will be hollaring at some of yous TX D'mers when I do
