mUH Laminate FlooR

Lowes has a sale on their Pergo 15% off, and the kind me and muh boy liked is Pergo.. It is the Indian Tigerwood, or KOA.. so I decided to help me get all the other stuff going I would go ahead and purchase enough to do the living room, hallway, and both our rooms. ~500sqft.

I bought just one package today to test it out on the floor. I put em all together (only 7 planks come in a package).. not the way they are supposed to be laid out, but just to get a feel for it and to pick the grain path. Here are the pics:

I am pretty sure this is the way they will go, although I am not sure... maybe I could get help from you guys to help me on direction

What is going to be so damn badass about this install is that I am going to be able to get it right up to the drywall's edge cause there is no trim installed on it right now. Once I have it all laid out I can install the trim and not have to worry bout putting 1/4 trim down don't like the look of that stuff, looks to last minute after thought IMO.

Can't wait!

yep. THat section right there was 50.00. 17.59sqft is in each box, which is laid out right there.. so that right thurr is 50.00 w/tax. I figured around 29 boxes.. If all goes well I will be ready to texture the ceiling by Monday night. We will see, son has his football tournament all weekend long.

I'm going with the stuff from Sams that's $27 a box for 17.76 square feet and it's 10mm thick with the padding and vapor barrier already backed. Aren't you suppose to leave a 1/4" gap between the wall the edge of the laminate so it won't buckle?

yes you are, but the drywall sits above the laminate by a 1/16"-1/8" or so and really it has 1/2" to expand and contract under the drywall. That is cool, this stuff has a 8mm pad/V.B. on it, and the white floor is Zinsser BIN shellac paint.. it is actually a vapor barrier also. When the walls are done I am actually going to prime them with a Vapor Barrier paint from ICI Paints.

27.00 a box huh! That is a great price Son and I looked at the different types with like 5 or 6 pieces of the slate tile I am laying down and there were like 3 different types/colors of laminate that looked good.. this one, some darker one (which I didn't want at all) and some bleached birch or whatever it was. This was exotic looking and went with the theme I am trying to do for the interior REALLY well So it was this Here is a random picture of it I found:

cute kid

hardwood = $$$$ lol. most homes down here are tile or laminate the only place we have carpets is in the bedrooms.

if you drop something though not much of a chance for it survive the fall and glass goes EVERYWHERE!

problem with hardwood is the necessary sanding sucks, and the moisture effects it down here in the souf.

other than that like you said it feels better.

I'll take some pics here waiting for the batts to charge.

Chad

cool. Having problems with my camera.. nothing short of beating it on something will get it to turn on. It's control buttons got mushed in and I took it apart and bandaided it.. so I can't expect much, it is lasting longer than it really should have after the mushing.

Yeah, I need to work on it some more. I have 5 seems on the ceiling to finish and four on the walls to finish, then sand, then paint, then lay the floor...in the whole house. I just have too many projects like my S10, my supra, my Mustang clutch. It just all piles up.

So's I go get muh laminate today and somehow lost the quote.. no probs cause the manayer there is who hooked me up with the price. Okay.. have em pull it (28boxes) ~480sqft.. and the dude was like no probs I will hoook you up cause I was there when manayer was there.. and I small get a ton of shit from them..

So I go get a couple other things and was ready to plunk down 1400.00bigones and then dude was like uh... how much did they quote you? I was like $1183.00. He was like well best I could do is $1800.00 for just the lam.

Okay I won't get it now then... as I say I will be back in the morning and talk to manayer then.

Fuck. I have EVERYTHING except that damn piece of paper I guess the manager did an "off the grid double super secret" quote for me so there is no record = me.

got em. Oh one thing I did find out.. that the company sometimes puts say 6 in instead of 7. So you ever get this stuff make sure the right number of planks are in the package.

Oh and scored a badass Larson storm door for $100.00 when it goes for $350.00
