not too spendy, the thing that got us was we have ended up buying everything twice, the plastic stuff they sell in stores for chinchillas really isnt made for them. Charlie destroyed 3 plastic wheels in the first few weeks, then he broke his cage we have about $400 total with him, the cage and his special saucer wheel that I could run on and not break. and between food n bedding its maybe $30-$40 a month. I really love how easy it is to care for them though. Just clean the cage once a week, make sure he has fresh water each day and dont over feed. They only pee in one corner of their cage and wont anywhere else unless you make them extremely pissed at you (then they'll spray at you) and their crap is just small hard balls so its easy to clean up.

I think we dropped 1k on Luukchin in the past 2 months alone?
