It should stay 21. However, it should be lowered to 18 for military personel. I mean come on, they'll allow you to fight, kill, and die for you country... but you still can't drink.

I think it should be 21 on all counts: drink, vote, and enlist.

20-30 years ago, 18 yr olds were smarter and more mature. But now, with the way the schools prepare them for life (or lack of preparation), they're fuckin morons

it's not the schools responsibility to prepare children for life. they're there to give them an education. now the fact that money is being cut from the schools which is inhibiting giving a proper education, is a different topic all together.

it's a combo of both, a majority of the parents and teachers/principals dont give a shit anymore because the kids are such little bastards... but yet, they've given up and don't even try to fix it or help, which inturn makes things worse.

when it comes down to it, people have just gotten lazy or simply do not care anymore.

the kids are such bastards because the parents dont do anything to them, not all kids need their ass beat, but a good majority need a good old fashioned ass beating when they step out of line, and todays parents either are too lazy, or too scared of child services to do it. (not that I'm saying you need to beat your kid sensless, but you gotta have consequences for actions, and time outs dont work)

exactly!! it's the parents that are suppose to install good morals and values into their children. punish your children if they do something wrong. care about what grades their getting in school. be active in your childs life. know where he/she is at all the time. seriously...how hard is it? if you can't take care of them, don't have them.

thats why I dont have a kid yet, I'm enjoying not having one right now, and I'm too lazy to take on all that responsability

that's partially the reason why i don't want to have kids at all. why do i want to bring children into this world and bring them up with what's out there right now. it's just not fair to them.

That's the problem. Kid's having kid's. That and no one fears anything anymore. No one fears God like they used to do, because honestly, I think there is a large majority of people that don't believe in religon anymore in this country. That and this country has set things up where no one can fail or screw up. There is always an out, welfare, un-employment, etc.

that's my point exactly. a 16 year old can't handle having a child....so don't have one. what's funny is i used to be anti-abortion but i've since changed my view on things considering how young women are getting pregnant now days.

i just get sooo irritated with how things are run with welfare and other things that i just want to go smack some people in the head and say what the fuck are you thinking!!

Fuck a drinking age limit. There should be a birthing age limit. Set that to 21.

i agree with rey rey....the legal age for everything should be reevaulated based on today's youth and their maturity. even the driving age/laws i think should be re-written. i definately don't think they should lower it to 18 and i'm pretty sure the only ones that care are the ones that aren't 21 yet (in general...not necessarily on this forum).

I have for a long time believed that there should be a Birthing License initiated in the USA. I have worked on cases with adoptions, and if you have ever researched what you have to do in order to adopt a child, it is a lot of work, but it never made sense to me because anybody can squeeze out a kind in this day and age and as Cali said now little girls are getting pregnant, but they have these tough restrictions on actually adopting a kid.

If they had a birthing license that you had to be issued to make sure you qualify to take care of a child, then i think you would have a lot less problem with kids being raised so shitty. If you go to a hospital and give birth without an official birthing license, then kid gets taken away, and your ass goes to jail, simple as that. Seems harsh, but people are not going to go do something if they know the laws are harsh and enforced.

Parents don't instill values, but the schools don't make kids tough anymore. Everybody's worried about hurting the kids' self esteems. No more losers, no one's better than anyone else...how else do you learn to strive for better if you don't learn that you aren't perfect just the way you are
