Well I emailed my state Rep tonight.. that is a first

It was a "can" letter.. but still made me feel good I actually did something like this. Here is the letter:

Quote:
I am writing to urge you to vote Yes on H.R. 6049, which includes a crucial one-year extension of the wind energy Production Tax Credit (PTC) and would create a new Investment Tax Credit (ITC) for small wind systems. The PTC – which is the single most important federal incentive for pollution-free wind energy – is set to expire at the end of this year.

With 76,000 jobs and $11.5 billion in wind energy investment at risk, it is essential for Congress to move forward in September to extend the renewable energy production tax credit.

Wind energy is not only a significant component of the global warming solution, but also a powerful engine in the U.S. economy. Since January 2007, more than 40 wind industry manufacturing facilities have been announced, brought online or expanded in the U.S., creating over 9,000 jobs and $1 billion in manufacturing investment. When the PTC has lapsed in the past, wind energy investments have fallen 73-93% in the following years. Please do not allow this bright spot in our economy to burn out.

I greatly appreciate your support on this urgent issue
So I hope to see his "can" letter sent back to me I actually hope they do do this, that is why I went through the process to send it. I am glad it was easy to do, I didn't really have the brain power to write this up myself tonight..

I saw a HUGE windmill being shipped on the highway today, it was just the main generating component, not the fins.. or the cone, just the box with the gears and generator.. I usually see around 5 at once going down the highway.. with thier "wide load" pickup trucks ahead and behind them. So fucking cool to see them though. I tried to take a pic w/ my cell today but almost ran off the highway E for effort I guess.

HaHa nice. I was thinking maybe we were closer especially since we seem to be the only ones posting over the last 45 minutes or so.

The past 2 MONTHS or so has been my most prevalent visits in YEARS to this site with school and all.
My LX is a hatch. I have checked RW for parts but I need a DD before I can really do anything to the '93. Hence my other thread, Car purchasing decisions

Problem is that we can't even get wind power up in large quantities because the environmentalists complain about the power lines running through federal land.

I don't really care how we get energy, I'm all for the "all of the above" plan. Nuke is high on that list, though.

yeah the environmentalists are just plain stupid. Yes the land.. we get it, but what about everything else? And it is only certain areas that will really benefit from this.. not like they will be EVERYWHERE.

In Central Kansas there is the Flint Hills area. The way wind is scored is a 0-4 category. The Flint Hills is a 4. The most wind and all the time. There are signs along I-70 that tell you to watch out for dangerous wind along the area that I-70 cuts through the Flint Hills. Environmentalists have killed the idea of Wind Generation there.. and it is all bluff hills, not suitable for crop growth, and really any kind of land development. It is the way it was 300yrs ago. Barren, hilly, grassland (use that sparingly).. it is basically a step or 2 up from desert.
