need a new cell phone

had the Samsung Rant and was very happy with it, but the wife washed it in the washing machine... Now I have to go out and buy a new one. Any phones that I should be aware of before just buying another Rant? I go through Sprint.

I love blackberry. They have pretty good phones & are capable of alot. Some people may disagree with me, but I've had pretty good experiences with mine.

I, too, tend to lean towards Blackberry devices. Like the functionality and security.

If you get a Blackberry, can you get one without a data plan? And do they have 802.11b/g support?

I'll vouch for BB also if you're looking for a powerful smartphone that has a lot of networking capabilities, if you want something thats more media oriented, you could look at HTC. HTC - Touch Phone, PDA Phone, Smartphone, Mobile Computer

I prefer Windows Mobile over BB so I like HTC phones a bit better.

If you use a BB and like the applications that come with it stock, it's great for corporate use and those who want great networking abilities. Palm OS offers some unique applications but I really don't like the interface of both.

I think Windows Mobile offers better functionality for everyday use for a personal smart phone rather than a corporate function device. I use MS Live for tons of things while im on the road, plus I also like the availabilty of apps for WM better than BB or Palm too. Media related, WM wins hands down.

I did the same thing at one point. Consumerist - Reach Sprint's Retention Department - Cellphones Call them with the same attitude and with some persistence you'll get a nice phone. I got my pearl for free when they were first coming out by talking to retentions.
